Harry Jubb "an excellent standard of teaching"

Dear All,

I hope all is well back in London. I hear that the new school build is coming along, which is exciting!

I just wanted to give you an update on my progress since leaving Tallis. I've now finished my Natural Sciences BA (at Cambridge), in which I specialised in Biochemistry as I originally intended. I graduated in July with a high 2:1. This year I completed an 8 week project in structural bioinformatics in the lab of Prof. Sir Tom Blundell, looking at the effects of mutations in cancer on drug resistance. As you might imagine, the combination of biology and computation suits me well! He offered me a PhD position, on a four year studentship in collaboration with UCB Celltech, which I accepted and am due to start in October. Also computational, the title is "Understanding and modulating interactions at protein-protein interfaces". I am of course thrilled and feel very lucky to be embarking on such an amazing project, and staying in academe in an amazing place.

I wanted to say thank you again to you all, and to Tallis for being the people and place that not only gave me an excellent standard of teaching, but also over and above that help and support, without which I wouldn't be where I am today.

Please pass on my regards to everyone at Tallis,

Best wishes,

Harry
