EXAM RESULTS 2014
A year of stunning results at Tallis, with outstanding achievement for students across the ability range at this high-achieving mixed comprehensive school.
Almost two hundred students took A2 examinations at Thomas Tallis this year. There were nearly four hundred entries for a wide range of A2 qualifications, and 150 BTEC qualifications were also gained.
A-level grades were: 25% A or A*, 53% A*-B, 80% A*-C, with a 99% pass rate. Almost 20% of the student body got the equivalent of ABB or better; eleven students obtained 3 A grades or better at A2; seven students obtained triple D* in the BTEC Extended Diploma. These results came across a broad range of science, humanities and arts subjects.

There were some astonishing individual performances. Robbie Akenhead and Samuel Harpin obtained two A*’s and an A at A2, as did Sara Demaili and Laura Savage. Yasmin Mahfouz obtained 2 A*’s and two A’s, Akvile Baliuleviciute three A’s and a B, and Keran Zhao one A*, 2 A’s and a B. Natasha Smith, Joleigh Risby, Ashley Pereira, Elias Henry, Gurkan Cigerli, Jason To and Sharon Okuns obtained D*D*D* in their BTEC examinations.
We anticipate that almost all Tallis students will go on to their first or second choice of university, with almost 20% of the Sixth Form going on to prestigious Russell Group universities: Medicine at UCL, Mathematics at Bristol, PPE at Manchester, Law at Birmingham, Economics at Leeds, English Literature at QMUL, Geography at Exeter, Business Mathematics at the LSE, and another thirty students besides.
These results are absolutely exceptional for a non-selective sixth form with a mixed intake, and are a credit to the commitment and hard work of staff and students alike.

Head, Carolyn Roberts commented:
Thomas Tallis is a quintessential comprehensive school which places a high value on quality teaching and learning in an inclusive and supportive community. We want to make sure that our young people have an education to understand the world, and change it for the better so that when our students leave us they will help to build a more just and equitable society. We value creativity in all subjects and have a particular focus on the habits that make for lifetime learning: inquisitiveness, persistence, collaboration, discipline and imagination. Like the rest of the school, our sixth form is an exciting and happy place.
