EXAM RESULTS 2012

Another year of superb results at Tallis, with outstanding achievement for students across the ability range at this high-achieving mixed comprehensive school.

Over 190 students took A2 examinations at Thomas Tallis this year, and there were over three hundred entries for A2 qualifications from this cohort. Within this there were 23 A* grades alone - that's 6% of all A2 level grades.  Across the cohort, 32% of students achieved A*/A grades or the equivalent in Year 13; 58% achieved A*-B and 83% achieved A*-C grades or the equivalent.  At A-level alone there was a pass rate of 99% of all subjects taken.
Tallis’s BTEC Level 3 results continue to be outstanding: two thirds of students entered for the double BTEC obtained double Distinctions or better and there was a 100% pass rate on all vocational courses.
There were numerous astonishing individual performances. Ellen Gibson obtained three A* grades and an A and is to take up a place at St Hilda’s College, Oxford University in October, and Zizzy Lugg-Williams obtained her place to read History and French at Oxford.   Kirsten Walton and Tennessee Williams both obtained two A*s and an A.  Meghan Sullivan and Frances Waite both obtained an A* and two A’s. Others include Ian Tu on 3As and a B, Max Woodbridge on 3As, Dexter Malloy with 2 As and B. Five BTEC National Diploma students obtained triple Distinction * grades: Tom Chittock, Maryama Mohamed, Tayler Monerville, Tololupe Ogungbesan and Oludare Sulaiman.
These results are absolutely remarkable for a non-selective sixth form and are a tribute to the hard work and high expectations of students and staff alike.

They mean that the vast majority of students at Tallis are able to go on to their first choice of university, including highly prestigious destinations such as: University College, London, for Biomedical Science; Edinburgh for Social Anthropology; History at Oxford; History and French at Edinburgh; Manchester to study Sociology; Geography at Bristol; Mathematics at Warwick; American Studies at East Anglia; Fashion at Ravensbourne amongst many others.  In total 23% of those with places in Higher Education are going to Russell Group Universities.

Executive Head Teacher Byron Parker:
Results at the top end were again stunning, but all our students did extraordinarily well, with 25 A-Level subjects having a 100% pass rate. This is up on last year and taken overall these results are excellent, giving our students the platform they need for success in the world of higher education or the world of work. They demonstrate once again that Tallis supports the achievement of all its students regardless of ability and is committed to making year-on-year improvements in standards. Our students and staff have done a superb job working together to obtain great results in one of the tightest years for university entrance on record.
