Key admissions and enrolment info and dates for 2025-2026 applicants:
Applications:
Our online application portal opens on 16 October 2024 through Applicaa . For external applicants, it will remain open until 12 noon on Monday 20 January 2025. (We set an earlier application deadline for our internal applicants.) Applications made after this point are considered to be late applications and won’t receive equal consideration.
References sought:
We can only reply to external applicants once we have had a reference from your school, and our deadline for references to be sent from schools is 12 noon on Friday 28 February 2025.
Offers made:
We anticipate that we will make offers from the end of March 2025. We have many applicants every year, and it takes time to work through them carefully. Please be patient.
In most cases we make successful applicants a Conditional Offer. Holding a Conditional Offer means that you will be invited to enrol in person after you receive your GCSE results on Thursday 21st August 2025. We do not guarantee offer-holders a curriculum in advance, and may only enrol applicants onto courses which have space and which they meet the minimum entry requirements for.
Our entry requirements for 2024 entry are listed below.
Taster Days:
Our provisional plan is to invite successful applicants to try out courses in school. Dates in late June or early July 2025 to be confirmed.
Enrolment:
Please note - to formally enrol and convert a provisional offer into firm place, students must enrol in person on GCSE Results day on 21 August 2025 or the day after. We do not offer virtual enrolment.
If we are oversubscribed, we must follow the priority order criteria as set out by the Royal Borough of Greenwich: 1) Looked After Children and those with EHCPs; 2) Current Tallis Y11 students; 3) Current Y11 students at other Greenwich state schools (as listed here); 4) Current Y11 students at other schools; 5) all other applicants. Please note: we give first-time external applicants (i.e. those in Year 11) priority over applicants already in Year 12.

We review our timetable, our course pathways, and our entry requirements for individual subjects from year to year. For a good idea of how we work and what we expect, see below for our present plan for the details of our 2024-2025 offer. We don't anticipate the 'small print' will change very much, although we do revise our curriculum plan during each academic year.
Level 3 courses are a significant step up from those completed at Key Stage 4. You must choose your subjects carefully. Try to choose subjects that you are good at: this is why we recommend at least a 6 at GCSE in any A-level subject desired at Key Stage 5. It can be hard to stay motivated if you are struggling with a subject. Look carefully at the subject syllabus and how it is assessed. Consider which subjects ‘fit together’ and compliment each other. Finally, make sure your subject combination prepares you for your future goal, be it the world of work or higher education. If you're unsure, ask us about this!
For entry we generally require all students to have a minimum of five 4-9 qualifications at GCSE including Maths and English at 5, but provide the option for students to retake an English or Maths GCSE if necessary. It is a general recommendation that students need a 6 in the GCSE subject they intend to continue to A-level, (see the latest information, below). Students with a majority of 4 grades will take BTEC courses; only if GCSE grades are rather stronger than this will A-levels be possible. It is also worth noting that students need to achieve a D grade / Merit or above in Year 12 if we are to recommend progression in that course to Year 13.

The following table outlines our pathways for sixth form study and gives a general sense of the entry qualifications required for each. Please note: we also set specific entry requirements for particular A-level and BTEC courses, and these are also outlined below. Some subjects, such as Media, may require the submission of a portfolio of work, for instance.
The table below shows our anticipated timetable blocking. We reserve the right to change it as we need, although it is a good indication of our likely blocking for the upcoming year. Only one subject can be studied in each column or block.
Recommended pathways
Please see our Entry Requirements document below for more precise details of the entry requirements we set for each course that we offer. We reserve the right to change these from time to time. Please also see our timetable blocking: students can pick at most one course in each column. Finally, please also remember that our timetable may change from year to year.
