POST 16 FACILITIES

Thomas Tallis School is a state-of-the-art building, opened in 2012, with amazing social facilities and spaces for Post 16 study.

The Sixth Form Café is a dedicated social space and outside seating area, which offers a range of food and drink with extended opening times. People study there too.

The Internet Café is also available for independent study, principally for students who need a computer; our Recital Room is available for Year 13 students to work silently in; Sixth Form students have their own floor of the Library with the right books for their studies; we have an invigilated Silent Study Area with 100 seats, and also use the Main Auditorium as a study venue.

We believe that having a range of spaces for study each with different features and different levels of oversight mirrors the way in which independent study works in universities.
We also believe that post-16 students should be fully integrated into the life of the whole school community. Hence, post 16 students are taught in the same spaces as all our other students.

You get a sense of belonging: they get to look up to you and aspire to be in your shoes one day.
There are amazing learning spaces right across the building but particularly impressive specialist facilities include:
  • a professional standard music recording studio
  • a media broadcast studio
  • a drama studio and double height classrooms/rehearsal spaces
  • a music recital room

  • music rehearsal rooms
  • a 270 seat main hall with backstage facilities that can be used for lectures and film screenings

The sports and recreation facilities are quite frankly awesome. We have:
  • 2 dance studios
  • a 6 court sports hall (with seating for 500 spectators)
  • an Olympic standard gymnastics hall
  • an Olympic standard Dojo (martial arts facility)
  • a weights and fitness room
  • a large sports field with 2 full sized football pitches, a multi-use games area and athletics facilities
