Amber Rowe "Confidence and skill building"I left Tallis in 2009. The years before sixth form were fun but at the front of my mind are the 2 years of sixth form because they were invaluable, giving me the focus to realise who I was and what direction I wanted to take. Looking back, there were countless opportunities surrounding me within the school and these gave me the confidence and skill building that I now rely on on a daily basis. In particular I remember a photography lesson where we were being told about a film ‘Ghosts Before Breakfast’ and thinking is this really a part of an assessment? - it’s one of the best things I’ve seen. Can we make work like this? My whole idea of creativity and learning had shifted and excitement ran through me - I’d found something I love so I clung onto those lessons as long as possible.
Since leaving Tallis I studied for a year, left and took an 8 month break after I did a foundation course. This year I’ve started a degree at Central St. Martins (Fine Art) and am writing songs for other people. (trying to work on my own when I have time) I’ve had the most amazing time and met some truly inspiring people, I’m pleased to be working with a great international company. My hopes are to continue studying as long as possible and become more involved in the London art world, continuing to travel while working at least the next 2 years within music. I plan to visit the new Tallis building, and I hope everyone’s enjoying it! I miss the staff and I can’t express how much support they gave (and still give) to me. The friendships I gained at Tallis will always be the strongest. |
