Represent London is a three year employability and volunteering programme which will leave a legacy of young people, who will thrive in education and employment through the development of key skills, raised aspirations and the acquisition of community/business skills.
The students will be taking part in a range of practical and cultural services to visitors in London during Sports, Festivals, Jams and during the six week period of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as volunteers.
The project has recruited students from the 5 Olympic Boroughs. There will be 3 schools from each of the boroughs, a total of 15 schools. Thomas Tallis School has been invited to participate in the scheme and we have recruited 15 Year 11 students, who have continued the programme into the 6th form.
The students have participated in a series of modules:
• Barclays: Money Skills
• BBC: Podcasting
In addition, 2 students from the Thomas Tallis group attended a training day at the BBC on the 9th December 2010. These students will then be asked to complete filming for the next year on the project.
Over the next academic year the students will participate in the following:
Volunteering Opportunity The culmination of the project is the volunteering opportunity as a London Ambassador, between 3 and 6 consecutive days over the time period of the 20th July - 10th September 2012.
