Thomas Tallis Celebrates A-level and BTEC Results
In 2025 almost three hundred and fifty students in Year 13 sat their final exams, and nearly all are taking up university or conservatoire places as of Thursday 14 August – this number will rise – the great majority at their first choice of institution. This year almost half of our applicants are taking up courses at Russell Group universities and two thirds are going on to the ‘Russell Group Plus’ – that is, the Russell Group itself, plus top-10-for-subject and highly specialist single-faculty institutions (SOAS, UAL, Bath etc). This year, as in previous years, all who wanted to progress to university were able to do so. 26.5% of A-level entries obtained A*/A grades and 56% achieved A*-B grades. At A-level 81 students gained the equivalent of ABB or better and the pass rate in all our A-level subjects was 0.4% up on last year at 98.7%. BTEC students also performed brilliantly: 71 achieved three Distinction grades or higher, 79% of BTEC grades were at Distinction or Distinction* level, and 99% of BTEC grades were at Merit or higher. There was a 100% pass rate.

Jules H (A*A*A*A) is to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, where he is joined by Theo C (A*A*A*) reading Land Economy, Dylan W (A*AA) reading Geography and Mason N (AAB) reading History. Greta L (AAA) begins Theology at Oxford, Grace B (AAA) Spanish, Amelia K (A*A*A*) Chemistry and Eleanor M (A*A*A*) Ancient and Modern History. Many Tallis students are staying local. Eight are heading to KCL, including Amida T (ABB) – Midwifery, Azra D (DDD) and Lubna J (DDM) – both nursing – KCL is the best place on Earth to study these subjects at the moment – but also Sweta P (BCC) for Chemistry, Oleksandrina S (A*AAA) for European Studies, Arthur D (AAB) for Politics and Ryan W (A*ABC) for Engineering. Thirteen are heading to QMUL including Justin L (ABB) for Accounting and Finance, Joel A (DDD), Titus J (DDD), Tung N (DDE) for Business Management and Mark W (AAB) for Law, and Jamilah H (BBB) for Neuroscience. Six are to UCL, including May B (AAA) for Anthropology, Teodor B (AAA) for Chemistry, Wen L (A*AB) for Economics, and Jin Y (A*A*A) for Mathematics. Kaden H – Mathematics with Economics – and Evie C (A*A*A*A*) – Psychological and Behavioural Science – are beginning courses at the LSE. Tallis students are also taking up places at RHUL, Brunel, City, Goldsmith’s, LSBU, SOAS, the Central School of Speech and Drama, UEL, Greenwich, UAL, Ravensbourne and Westminster.
Many are staying south. Tallis folk are heading to Falmouth, Kent – 6 students, Portsmouth – 7 students, Reading – eight students, Southampton, Surrey – 4 students, and seven are going to Bournemouth, where Olivia D (BBB) begins a Film degree and Sean W (DDD) a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
As every year, some head to the great universities of the Midlands and North. 6 Tallis students are to Warwick, amongst them Dylan K (A*A*A*), Saul M (A*A*A*) and Zakir N (A*A*AA), all reading Mathematics, and Darcy G (A*AB), reading English Literature. 15 are to Leeds, one more than in 2024, with Ademie E (ABB) reading Automotive Engineering, Joe O (BCC) reading Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Thought, Grace B (AAB) and Sophia S (A*AB) reading English Lit and Creative Writing and two folk – Leo J (BBC) and Marck Q (BCC) reading International Relations. Eleven are heading to Manchester, including Elizabeth I (AAAB) who is to read Chemical Engineering. Four are to Edinburgh, and eight to Loughborough, including Bianca F (A*A*A) for Graphic Design and Olivia M (A*ACE) for Sport Management. Two Tallis students are heading to York – Sidhav P (D*DM) for Business and Management and William P (AAB) for Music and Sound Recording - whilst Dhruv P (D*DD) takes up a place at Durham to read Accounting.
Others head west. Twelve are going to Bristol, including Ed B (AAB), reading Philosophy, Georgia N (AAB), reading Veterinary Science and Heshan D (A*A*A), reading Law. Zeenat O (BBB) and Queen O (ABB) are to Cardiff, reading Diagnostic Radiography and Pharmacy respectively. Mia T – CC and Fashion Communication – and three other students begin courses at UWE.
As always, nearly thirty Tallis students are beginning Foundation Diplomas at most of the constituent colleges of the University of the Arts, London. They’ll progress on to visual arts degrees in due course. For example, Borbala S (A*AB) is to study Graphic Design at Kingston and Balraj B (ABB) is beginning the Foundation Diploma there.
Apprenticeships are a growth area for us and here there have been some wonderful outcomes too. Qusai A (BBC) and Rahima I (ABB) have secured apprenticeships with KPMG, Charlie H (D*DD) with Skanska, and Mohamed M (AAD) one with Deloitte. Lacey M (DDM) is starting a degree apprenticeship with the Metropolitan Police and Zaki S (AAA) and Zaki S (AAA) is beginning an Amazon-sponsored degree apprenticeship in Economics at QMUL. Ollie K (BBB) begins his training as a tree surgeon, and Soufian C (DMM) begins training as a rugby coach with Roebucks.
On the basis of the outcomes above, we believe that Tallis can continue to consider itself to be one of Britain’s flagship comprehensive schools.

When I joined Tallis last September I spoke at the ‘Meet the Headteacher’ evening of the importance of the three-way partnership between school, students and parents. The fantastic results that we have seen today are a testament to what can be achieved when all work together to support our fantastic young people. I am immensely proud of our students and the hard work and dedication they have shown over the last two years, and I wish them the very best of luck as they move on to university or whatever comes next. I am also immensely grateful to my wonderful staff for their passion, dedication and ambition, and very grateful for the ongoing support of our Tallis families. We have done our very best to educate our students, and now it’s time for them to go out and change the world for the better!
